Flexible space suitable for a variety of performances, presentations, and creative activities. It can accommodate:

• Presentations, talks, and networking events
• Vocal and music lessons for individuals and groups
• Temporary exhibitions and multimedia displays

Multipurpose rooms/offices/classrooms

Four rooms each can accommodate from 1 to 10 people. 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Equipped with chairs, tables, and free Wi-Fi.

Available: TV, amplified sound, video projection.

Space for Cultural Events and Community Gatherings

The Hub can host a variety of cultural and community-focused events for up to 50 people

These may include:

• Exhibitions and presentations of cultural projects and initiatives
• Festivals featuring music, dance, and traditional crafts demonstrations (without sales)
• Community celebrations of holidays and special occasions
• Educational programs exploring customs, history, and cultural diversity
• Interactive workshops and family-friendly activities that foster cultural exchange and understanding

POSITION SUMMARY

Do you have a passion for working with elders and/or people with disabilities and are looking to earn $20 per hour for a credit or noncredit internship? Are you looking for an internship to transition into full-time employment? Central Boston Elder Services provides you with these opportunities. 

The intern will be assigned tasks set forth by the designated department which would include one of the following: Home Care, Specials Programs, Protective Services, and/or CBES Administration.

Under the direction of the Manager, she/he will be responsible for completing tasks directly aligned with CBES’s mission to provide services to the elders and disabled individuals within our service area. The intern will assist staff with general duties, including, but not limited to, research, data collection/entry, coordinating reports, and making consumer-related phone calls. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Successfully complete the Agency’s direct care training curriculum designed by the Training Manager. 
• Attend and participate in agency and departmental meetings and training courses as assigned. 
• Assist in managing the flow of paperwork. 
• Shadow CBES staff on home visits and or external meetings with follow up to consumer regarding the program and input consumer information into database. 
• Create reports as instructed by the Manager.  
• When instructed, assist consumers with navigating and accessing services and/programs. 
• Perform duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrate excellent communication skills, including reading and writing.
• Ability to respond professionally and with empathy when communicating with elders and communicate in a manner appropriate and respectful to the comprehension level of the consumer and /or family.
• Exhibit interpersonal flexibility, initiative and teamwork.
• Solid organizational skills combined with the ability to follow instructions and complete tasks on time.
• Proficiency in Microsoft and the ability to learn and use computer systems in various environments (mobile phone, desktop, tablet).
• Maintain consumers’ rights, privacy and confidentiality in all aspects of the job, including those relating to diagnosis and consumer records.
• Promote and employ ethical actions with consumers, families and others.
• Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure adherence to CBES (Central Boston Elder Service) policies and procedures in addition to program-related operations. 

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE: 

• College students enrolled in an accredited educational institution.   
• Prior experience with elders and/or disabled preferred.

Georgy Melsky is giving a concert for evacuees at the hotel where they’re living now.

A group of volunteers meeting with the head of the Beinechem Uveinehem volunteer group, Golda Kukuevitsky, to discuss coordinating our meetings with evacuated Russian-speaking olim and IDF soldiers in Jerusalem and other cities in Israel.

We visited the Old City of Jerusalem and The Refugees Square in Tel Aviv.

Beautiful, fresh, and refreshing is nearby but we only can see it from the distance. We are doing workshops and sessions with evacuees anв driving from one hotel to another, from one city to another… and we are happy. Right now the real beauty are Israelis. Am Isroel Chai!

We are going to Jerusalem!

Yes, we are going to Jerusalem from June 16 to 23 to help evacuees from the North and South of Israel, elderly people, mothers with children, people with special needs, and wounded soldiers.

We will visit Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Tiberias.

Our volunteers will conduct psychological counseling sessions, post-traumatic nervous-enervating-motor sessions, and art therapy.

We will prepare and distribute food packages for wounded soldiers.

We will organize a Shavuot lunch for the elderly and mothers with children in Jerusalem. People will be able to enjoy homemade pancakes, cheesecakes, and other nice meals for the first time in a very long time.

During our mission we will perform concerts.

We will take gifts with us: tablets, art supplies, things needed for the soldiers on the front lines, etc., and donate the funds raised here to continue serving these people.

And these people came from different cultural, national, and religious communities. And it was at a restaurant called La Voile in Brookline. Everyone reacquainted, talked to, enjoyed, and drank 4 and 1/2, for sooner freedom of all kidnapped Israelis, glasses of wine. We listened to the history of the exit of the Jews from Egypt, by the leading Seder Rabbi and Cantor, Oksana Chapman. Most importantly, no one makes the difference between Jew and non-Jew, Christian or Muslim.

But most importantly, no one was anti-Semitic.

So, at these crucial times for Jews, Vladimir Foygelman and the Makor Center held an action of friendship, understanding, joy, unity, and freedom. Only truly free people will ever be anti-Semitic.

We will be happy if you, free people, decide to join us next year.

Dear Vladimir and Center Makor,
Thank you for arranging the Passover Seder. It was a wonderful experience and a great opportunity to meet new friends in a welcoming environment. Acting as one of the representatives of the local Ukrainian community was an honor. During the evenings program, I was especially intrigued with the notion presented that in addition to commemorating the Exodus from Egypt, each year’s Seder also allows everyone to evaluate what forces in their present-day life may hold them in unwanted bondage.

Dear friends,

Our hearts break as we write this critical update. As you are likely aware, CJP and JCRC typically do not communicate either on Shabbat or on many Jewish Holidays (such as today, Shemini Atzeret/Simchat Torah). However, we are taking the extraordinary step of being in direct communication with you today given that Israel is now at war.

Here in Boston, we awoke to terrifying scenes in Israel. The IDF has confirmed that hostages have been taken to Gaza and that, as of now, over 100 people were killed in a Hamas assault, with another 900 injured. The scale of the destruction is unfathomable (see IDF: 100 killed in huge Hamas assault, hostages taken to Gaza; PM: Israel at war | The Times of Israel for live updates). We have been in touch with our colleagues on the ground, all of whom are sharing how serious this moment is and how grateful they are to know that – as always – we stand in complete solidarity with them against terrorism and those who seek to destroy us.

CJP and JCRC are working closely together and will be sending updates soon on opportunities to gather, learn, and show our support for Israel. To that end, we want to make you aware of an opportunity tomorrow Sunday, October 8, at 12 p.m. through Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) for up-to-date- information. Register.

We will also be sharing updates on social media, making sure to acknowledge how unusual a step it is for us to post on Shabbat or this holiday.

UCCA Condemns Terror Attacks Against Israel and their State Sponsors

– A Daily Act of Terrorism in Ukraine by Russia

The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), the nation’s largest representative body of Americans of Ukrainian descent, condemns this morning’s surprise attack by Iranian-backed terrorists against the people of Israel. In addition to the nearly 5,000 rockets fired on civilian areas, the terrorists have reportedly taken civilian and military hostages. This assault is a clear violation of worldwide norms and an affront to the Nation of Israel, a democratic and stalwart ally of both the United States and Ukraine.

In reiterating Israel’s unquestionable right to self-defense, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared, “Terror should have no place in the world, because it is always a crime, not just against a specific country or this terror’s victims, but against humanity in general and our entire world.”

In unequivocally condemning this appalling assault, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, stated, “Terrorism is never justified. Israel has a right to defend itself and its people. The United States warns against any other party hostile to Israel seeking advantage in this situation.”

In stark contrast, Russia’s Dmitry Medvedev personally welcomed the terrorists responsible for today’s attacks in Moscow earlier this year, and responded to today’s attack on Israel by calling for a civil war inside the United States.

Anyone who resorts to terror commits a crime against the world. And whoever finances terror is committing a crime against the world. For years, the world has allowed the Kremlin to support and finance terrorist regimes and terrorist organizations, including its status as the main supplier of weapons to the Assad regime in Syria, supporting terrorists across Latin America, organizing acts of international terrorism in the United Kingdom, downing a civilian Malaysian airliner with impunity, organizing mass executions, rape, child abductions, and physical abuse in the Central African Republic and Mali, and all the while arming and funding Israel’s enemies. And for the past 19 months, the Ukrainian nation has experienced the sheer brutality and terrorism at the hands of the kremlin.

On the morning of their Sabbath, Israeli residents of several kibbutzim barricaded themselves into safe rooms as armed militants stormed their civilian settlements. Similarly, Ukrainians woke up on Thursday to discover that 52 civilians were killed in a terrorist attack on the village of Hroza in eastern Ukraine: in an instant, a missile wiped out a sixth of the village’s population. As with the 20,000+ genocidal abductions of Ukrainian citizens, today Israeli grandmothers and children have been dragged across the border against their will.

A new and rejuvenated Axis of Evil has subjugated the world to terrorism. The world must stand united and in solidarity so that terror does not attempt to break or subjugate life anywhere and at any moment.

Beginning with UCCA President Stephen Shumeyko’s greeting to the people of Israel 75 years ago proclaiming “at long last the Jewish people have managed to establish their own free and independent State of Israel, and today are making valiant efforts to preserve it,” UCCA continues to stand in total solidarity with the people of Israel following this massive, unprovoked crime against the world. Israel, like Ukraine, has every right to defend itself.
