DESCRIPTION:Vladimir Nabokov (1899-1977) and Véra Nabokov (née Slonim\, 1902-1991) met in early 1920s Berlin; their relationship encompassed two continents and five languages. In this lecture\, author and scholar Maxim D. Shrayer brings to life rare and archival materials to explore the dynamics of mixed marriages and the boundaries of modern Jewish culture. \nMaxim D. Shrayer is Professor of Russian\, English\, and Jewish Studies at Boston College and Director of the Project on Russian and Eurasian Jewry at the Davis Center. He is the author and editor of over 15 books books\, including Leaving Russia: A Jewish Story\, Yom Kippur in Amsterdam and Voices of Jewish-Russian Literature.
