Free. \nJoin us for a very interesting evening. Yanina Kisler will be presenting her new book “They Were Fighters: Oral Histories of Jews Leaving the Soviet Union”. The presentation is in English. \nBorn in Soviet Ukraine\, Yanina emigrated to the U.S. in 1977 as a teenager. Recently\, she completed an extensive project interviewing over 100 Jews who emigrated from the Soviet Union in the 1970s and 1980s. These oral histories shed light on a unique emigration story—one driven not by immediate physical danger but by a profound desire to escape antisemitism and political oppression. Her goal is to share these stories and help audiences (children and grandchildren of immigrants\, as well as anyone interested in the 20th century history of Jews) understand this pivotal yet often misunderstood chapter of Jewish history. \nThe book is available on Amazon for purchase. \nPURCHASE
