🎉 Excitement is in the air! Get ready to be part of an extraordinary fundraising event, celebrating the Jewish American Month. It’s an event like no other, and we want you to be there! 🎉

The screening of the famous documentary In Search of Yiddish!

Presented by Mikhail Brusilovsky. A screening of the film, a discussion of its creation and encounters with Alexander Gorodnitsky, followed by a Q&A session.

In Search of Yiddish is a documentary film created by the renowned scholar and poet Alexander Gorodnitsky, the director Yuri Khashchevatsky, the journalist Natalia Kasperovich, and the cinematographer Semyon Fridlyand.

The film’s narrative — dedicated to the fate of Yiddish (the language of the European Jewish diaspora) and its speakers — draws both upon Gorodnitsky’s own personal recollections and family documents, and upon numerous encounters with people in Belarus, the United States, and Israel.

Every registration to this event will bring us closer to achieving our mission. Together, we can create a brighter, more compassionate world for all.

Представляет Михаил Брусиловский, Босфильм. Показ фильма, рассказ о его создании, встречах с Александром Городницким, ответы на вопросы.

«В поисках идиша»* — это документальная лента, созданная выдающимся ученым и поэтом Александром Городницким, режиссером Юрием Хащеватским, журналисткой Натальей Касперович и оператором Семеном Фридлянд.

Повествование фильма — посвященное судьбе идиша (языка европейской еврейской диаспоры) и его носителей — опирается как на личные воспоминания и семейные архивы самого Городницкого, так и на многочисленные встречи с людьми в Беларуси, США и Израиле.

Каждая регистрация на это мероприятие приближает нас к осуществлению нашей миссии. Вместе мы сможем создать более светлый и милосердный мир для всех.

Гениальность актера Лисичкина поставлена под вопрос: его увольняют из театра. Обида выливается на родную дочь, Верочку, которую он хочет выдать замуж за отставного прапорщика, дважды вдовца – Акакия Назарыча Ушицу. Верочку не вдохновляет роль деревенской отставной прапорщицы. Взяв в пособницы свою горничную, Катерину, талантливая девушка дурачит жениха и отца и находит выход из положения. Красочный водевиль с песнями, танцами и переодеваниями будет интересен и взрослым, и детям! В спектакле звучит живая музыка в исполнении Александра Прохорова-Толстого.

Show Your Support for Ukraine’s Children at Upcoming Ukrainian Music Fundraiser

Dear Friend of Ukraine!

On June 5th, our community will gather at Follen Church in Lexington for an evening of Ukrainian classical music and an act of collective care for children who have lost everything to a war that has not yet ended.

The concert is called In the Blue of the Sky, and it is a benefit for Common Man for Ukraine. Since 2022, this 501(c)(3) has delivered more than 4.5 million pounds of food and supplies to Ukrainian families and has given 1,600 children and widowed mothers a space to grieve and heal. Attached is more information about the programs they offer and here is a link to a recent WGBH Jim & Margery interview that featured CMFU co-founders Lisa Mure and Susan Mathison discussing in detail one of their trips.

The proceeds of this concert will fund a three-week trauma counseling retreat in Poland for a cohort of children orphaned by the conflict. Art and nature therapy, physical activity, trained Ukrainian mental health professionals, and time with other children who understand.

Our goal is $40,000, enough to fund a full retreat. We are raising $15,000 of that from local sponsors, and I am writing to ask you to consider being one of them.

Sponsorship starts at $250 (Community Partner) and scales through Silver at $500, Gold at $1,500, and Platinum at $2,500. Each level carries meaningful public recognition scaled to the contribution, including logo placement, program advertising, complimentary tickets, and acknowledgment from the stage. Full details are in the attached packet.

Every dollar of your sponsorship goes through the Plymouth Rotary Foundation (EIN 59-3841932) and is fully tax-deductible. CMFU operates through a trusted Rotary Club network in Poland and Ukraine, people who have been delivering aid since the war began. The path from your gift to a child in need is short, direct, and documented.

Please let me know if there is any additional information I can send you in support of this request. A response by May 22nd, two weeks before June 5, would allow us to include your business in the event program.
