Он член Союза писателей (1972)\, заслуженный деятель искусств Российской Федерации (2013)\, первый лауреат Государственной литературной премии имени Булата Окуджавы (1999)\, первый лауреат литературной премии Евгения Евтушенко «Больше\, чем поэт» (2019)\, кавалер ордена Дружбы (2019)\, кроме того он ученый с мировым именем\, один из ведущих исследователей в области геологии и геофизики океана\, доктор геолого-минералогических наук\, профессор\, заслуженный деятель науки Российской Федерации (2004). \nАлександр Городницкий – один из основоположников жанра авторской песни в России\, многие его песни стали народными\, он является культовой фигурой для многих поколений людей. \nАлександр Моисеевич Городницкий родился в 1933 году в Ленинграде\, пережил первую зиму Ленинградской блокады. Окончил Ленинградский горный институт. Вся жизнь его связана с экспедициями. Семнадцать лет он работал в Заполярье. Стал одним из первооткрывателей Игарского медно-рудного поля. Более тридцати лет принимал участие в океанологических экспедициях в различные районы Мирового океана на судах военной гидрографии (в том числе на знаменитом паруснике «Крузенштерн») и Академии наук. Был на дрейфующей станции на Северном полюсе и в Антарктиде. Многократно погружался на океанское дно в подводных обитаемых аппаратах. В 1988 году в экспедиции на научно-исследовательском судне «Академик Мстислав Келдыш» в Северной Атлантике на глубоководном аппарате «Мир-1» совершил погружение на глубину 4\,5 километра. С его именем связаны поиски легендарной Атлантиды. \nАлександр Городницкий — автор около 300 научных работ (в том числе 8 монографий\, посвященных геофизике и тектонике океанского дна). В 1982 г. защитил диссертацию на соискание ученой степени доктора геолого-минералогических наук на тему «Строение океанической литосферы и формирование подводных гор». В 1991 г. получил звание профессора по специальности «геология морей и океанов». \nСтихи и песни Александра Городницкого переведены на многие иностранные языки\, включены в школьные программы\, а песня «Атланты держат небо» стала неофициальным гимном Санкт-Петербурга и официальным гимном одного из крупнейших музеев мира — Государственного Эрмитажа (Санкт-Петербург). Творчеству Александра Городницкого посвящены многочисленные научные статьи\, кандидатские и докторские диссертации. Его именем названы малая планета Солнечной системы (астероид) № 5988 Gorodnitskij и перевал в Саянских горах. \nАлександр Городницкий один из авторов (совместно с Юрием Хащеватским\, Семеном Фридляндом\, Натальей Касперович) документального фильма «В поисках идиша» (2008)\, посвящённого трагической судьбе европейского еврейства и языка идиш. В 2009 году на Нью-Йоркском международном независимом кино-видеофестивале этот фильм был признан лучшим международным фильмом в номинации «Культура». \nДве серии документального автобиографического сериала Александра Городницкого и режиссёра Натальи Касперович «Атланты держат небо…» (2005–2010) посвящены Франции. \nС 1997 года Александр Городницкий – автор и герой репортажей и фильмов немецкого и французского телевидения( ARD\, NDR\, ARTE).

We see these tensions everywhere from college campuses to social movements to synagogue communities. What orientations toward Jewish life\, Israel and American politics are considered within or outside the bounds? When we think about our Jewish community\, what is the value of having communal boundaries? What constitutes “membership” in any given Jewish community and what makes staying “in” compelling despite differences of opinion\, perspective\, or identity? What happens when disagreement threatens to destroy a community? The peaceful and neighborly existence of three families\, Polish\, Ukrainian\, and Jewish\, sharing a large house\, musical evenings\, and merriment in the city of Stanislaviv in the years preceding and post-war\, is shattered. First in the Soviet occupation and the persecution of the Polish family\, then\, by the Nazi occupation of Ukraine\, and the decimation of the Jewish family.
