BEETHOVEN
May 1-10, 2026
368 Hillside Ave, Needham
Eight performances only – limited seating!!
Following two sold-out runs in Fall 2025, Valeriy Pecheykin’s wonderful play Beethoven brings to life 17 pivotal scenes from the legendary composer’s journey, blending archival material with theatrical invention to create a vivid portrait – and an “ode to silence.”
Beethoven is performed in Russian by Arlekin Players Theatre’s resident company, and this run will feature English subtitles projected on screens, marking the first time the play will be accessible to English-speaking audiences. Its initial run last fall marked the play’s international premiere and its first staging outside of Moscow, Russia.
Directed by Yana Gladkikh, star of Arlekin’s award-winning production of The Dybbuk, the revival is inspired by Beethoven’s defiance in the face of encroaching deafness. The production features live performance of Beethoven’s music alongside original compositions by pianist and composer Sarah Infini Takagi.
