Ha-Ushpizin
Set in Jerusalem, Ha-Ushpizin follows a devout Hasidic couple, Moshe and Mali Bellanga, who live in poverty and struggle to celebrate the Sukkot holiday. After being gifted enough money to afford a proper sukkah and the ceremonial etrog, they welcome two unexpected guests — escaped convicts with ties to Moshe’s past. These visitors test their faith, hospitality, and their relationship in profound ways. The film examines themes of faith, morality, and human kindness through a mix of drama and gentle humor, offering an intimate portrait of religious life and the trials of devotion.
