Ukrainian Museums: Preserving National Heritage and Identity

Join us for a presentation by Dr. Oleksandra Kovalchuk, Acting Director of the Odesa Fine Arts Museum in Ukraine. Kovalchuk is leading a global effort to preserve her country’s cultural heritage.

In this lunch presentation, Kovalchuk will highlight five Ukrainian museums, their history and the role they have played during the current war. She will describe how Ukrainian museums functioned in the Russian Empire, under the Soviet Union, and during 31 years of Independence, and the shift in missions and optics they have faced in light of the Russian Federations full-scale invasion.
