Vasyl Popadiuk is a classically trained violinist from Kyiv, Ukraine. He now lives in Ottawa, Canada, and performs around the world to enthusiastic and admiring audiences.
Vasyl will perform folk, POP, rock, and klezmer music during a two-act concert with intermission as a guest star of the Winter Extravaganza.
Winter Extravaganza is a charitable event organized annually by Center Makor.
Interesting Tip. This year, Vasyl Popadiuk, violinist, and Vladimir Foygelman, president of Center Makor, will be celebrating their birthdays together at the event. After a long time, the two friends will take the stage together, as they did many years ago in their childhood in the children’s dance ensemble “Veselka” / “Rainbow”, Kyiv, Ukraine.
This year Winter Extravaganza will be held on Saturday, January 20 at 6:00 PM at the War Memorial Hall. Newton City Hall. 1000 Commonwealth Ave. Newton.

Vasyl Popadiuk is a Ukrainian musician, known as the “Ukrainian Paganini”, violinist, pianist, founder of the band “PapaDuke”, with whom he travels the world, playing music in world music styles, Latino, gypsy, and jazz. He knows how to play 15 musical instruments, and each of the musicians in the band also plays various musical instruments. He is also a composer. He has been an honored artist of Ukraine since 2009.
Vasyl Popadiuk is a classically trained violinist from Ukraine, now living in Ottawa and performing internationally for enthusiastic and admiring audiences. Popadiuk who is a multi-instrumentalist (he plays 15 instruments), has toured with many prestigious troupes, including Ukraine’s Hopak National Ensemble, Kyiv’s Gypsy Music Theatre Company, and the Nazarov Music Theatre Company of Moscow with whom he performed for many international dignitaries including the late King Hussein of Jordan. He was asked to accompany Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev and his wife as part of the cultural entourage during a state visit to Spain where he performed for Queen Sofia.
His many fans include Don Was, Tom Cochrane, Ian Gillan (whose solo album Vasyl was asked to play on), and Jesse Cook. In the past, he often appeared as a special guest to Mediterranean guitarist Pavlo in Canada, the U.S., and the UK. More recently he has made several appearances as a special guest for world-music guitarist Jesse Cook who asked Vasyl to play on his new album BEYOND BORDERS.
